A Song for Old Nel

A Song for Old Nel is finally finished!

I started this project intending to write a short story, but the result is a fair bit longer than I planned (almost double, in fact) and is more of a novella at just under nine thousand words. It is set in the same world as The Island, just before the events of that story, making it a prequel of sorts. However, it is an independent story.

Meet Rose

Life on the streets is hard, and it’s even harder when you’re just a tiny imp like Rose.

Living from day to day, she never knows where, or when, she will get her next meal. When a stroke of hard-earned luck is stolen from her, Rose has to use all her courage and cunning to turn things around. However, this will be harder that she ever imagined.

About Nathan Rogers

I write science fiction and fantasy for both children and adults, but my first publications are fun children’s fantasy adventures called A Song for Old Nel and The Island. I live in New Zealand with my lovely wife, our two feisty kids, a deranged border collie, and a cat. The cat thinks that she is in charge. She is probably right.
